Italians and Marines

The night before my parents left, my dad read the boys a book. There were some marines in it. Also, the woman doing the majority of our costumes for this year's Christmas play is named Ann Maurine. I know it seems that these two tidbits of knowledge have nothing to do with each other but that's where you'd be wrong. The Rock Star has heard me saying the name Ann Maurine a lot lately. So, it makes perfect sense that, when my dad was finished reading the story, my oldest son asked, "Why were there so many Ann Maurines at that guy's house?"

Marine. Ann Maurine. What's the difference?

Today he asked me if sometime we could travel all the way to South Focaccia. When I asked him what, on earth, he was talking about he answered, "You know, all the places south of here." Is it weird that he thinks the continent south of ours is named after a flat oven-baked Italian bread? Is it weirder that my four-year-old has no problem pronouncing the word focaccia?

  1. THE WORLD IS SO AMAZINGLY SMALL.
Goes what? A couple years ago I worked for a woman, in Colfax, Ca, who was a seamstress, named Ann Maurine. She moved away to live near her kids, in UTAH, and recently got married.

There is no way this isn't the same woman.
Everyone sing with me now..."It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a small world after all, it's a SMALL SMALL world." LOL
